For the past four decades Rotary International has been at the forefront of the global fight to eradicate polio.

In celebration of World Polio Day (October 24), the world organisation continues with its mission to put disease-preventing immunisations in the hands of healthcare professionals worldwide.

Through its members’ continued work and contributions, Rotary District 9400, which includes Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique and South Africa, Rotarians have been saving the lives of children, regardless of their background or personal circumstances.

“Every child vaccinated is a life protected and every contribution brings us closer to eradication,” said Janice Carter of the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora, pledging the club’s continued commitment to the initiative.

“Polio remains a threat to children everywhere. As we commemorate World Polio Day and Rotary’s 40 years of contribution to effective immunisation, let us remember that our greatest legacy will not simply be the work we have done, but the world we leave behind for future generations.”
