Youngsters urged to donate blood on Youth Day

The team from SANBS will be ready to assist donors at its donor centre at the East Rand Mall from 09:00 till 16:00 on Youth Day.

SANBS is encouraging youngsters to consider donating blood on Youth Day (June 16).

According to local donor relations practitioner Trude Gaarekoe, the youth needs to donate blood as they are the blood donors of the future.

“It is important that young people are aware of the importance of donating blood. If they can get into a culture of regularly donating blood it can help us to save lives and prevent blood shortages in the future,” Gaarekoe said.

She highlighted the national blood bank is urgently in need of blood as the country is experiencing the third wave of Covid-19 infections.
