Swanepoel defeated in first fight since lockdown
This was the fighter’s first time back in the hexagon since the start of the lockdown.
Van Dyk Park fighter Robert “9mm” Swanepoel lost against Pietie “Thunder” Coxen in the EFC 87 welterweight bout at the Performance Institute on July 3.
Coxen defeated Swanepoel via TKO (strikes) at 4:01 into round one.
This was the fighter’s first time back in the hexagon since the start of the lockdown.
“I’m disappointed about losing the fight. However, I’m happy with my performance. I did everything I was supposed to do. The only thing that surprised me a little bit was that he was heavier than I expected. He used his weight well.
“In the coming weeks I will focus on my wrestling skills. It was also amazing to be back in action,” Swanepoel said.
