Kuselo grateful for community’s support
Due to the adjusted level four of the lockdown restrictions, businesses and community members were unable to visit Kuselo’s Heaven Sent safe house in Boksburg North to do their 67 minutes of giving back for Mandela Day.
Despite July 18 being a quiet Mandela Day at Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services due to Covid-19, the organisation is grateful to those who still showed their support.
Due to the adjusted level four of the lockdown restrictions, businesses and community members were unable to visit Kuselo’s Heaven Sent safe house in Boksburg North to do their 67 minutes of giving back for Mandela Day.
“In the past, people came to the safe house to wash our windows or interact with the children.
“However, this year, it was extremely quiet because of the lockdown restrictions. A few community members brought food and essentials as they usually do,” said Amanda Coetzee, founder of Kuselo.
Coetzee expressed her gratitude to those who dropped off the donations.
“People donated what they could. The Covid-19 pandemic and unrest had a negative effect on the economy. A lot of people lost their jobs and are now struggling.
“Moreover, I would like to thank the Boksburg Advertiser for its support. The community wouldn’t have known about Kuselo if it wasn’t for it. Its assistance is much appreciated,” she added.
Kuselo provides a temporary stable home for abused and neglected children at its safe house.
