Security firm brings relief

Donated items include non-perishable food, toiletries, pet food, baby supplies and other essentials.

Members of the Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection held a successful mass visibility drive to collect much-needed essential items for the affected people of KwaZulu-Natal.

Residents of Beyers Park, Jansen Park and other areas in Ward 22 witnessed a convoy of vehicles with sirens and hooters in their neighbourhood on July 20, during a mass visibility drive held in support of the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

The mass visibility drive, which kicked off around 18:30 in Beyers Park, was organised by Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection, X Factor Signs, Hansie Myburgh, the East Rand Community Hero’s (residents) and FireIce Industrial Fire Fighting.

Members of local security companies and representatives from various organisations also came through to show their support. The drive aimed to collect essential items from local residents in response to the shortages created by this week’s looting and vandalism in KZN.

The Smiths were among local residents who donated essential items to the affected people of KZN on July 20. Holding some of the donated items is Ismail Daya.

During the four hour drive, three Dubai Centre Quantum taxi’s made stops at various streets, collecting the donated items from community members. Some of the donated items included non-perishable food, toiletries, pet food, baby supplies and other essentials.

According to the organiser of the initiative, Clinton Festraets as part of the community initiative they saw it best to lend a helping hand to the affected people of KwaZulu-Natal to make a difference in their lives.

“A lot of families have been left without jobs due to the riots that have been taking place in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. We couldn’t just sit and do nothing while people are starving; hence, we decided to reach out to them.”

Loading some of the tin food donated by Dubai Centre is Zayaad Hassim with Aboo Shabir.

Festraets said the donations will be handed to FireIce to be transported to KwaZulu-natal in the coming days. Meanwhile, Leticia Festraets of Legendary Guardians Exclusive Protection shared that they’ve since last year reached out to the community of Boksburg. “Last year during level five we ran a project were we fed thousands of people. Again, we will sleep happily knowing that people are fed in KwaZulu-Natal,” said Festraets.
