Bank remembers Madiba by feeding children

In efforts to alleviate the scourge of hunger among children, FNB donated 187 bags of 50kg maize meal to Kidz World Forum to benefit thousands of children in 30 different early childhood development (ECD) centres in Boksburg.

This donation forms part of the financial institution’s Mandela Day celebration but it was delayed for over a week due to the past week of civil unrest, which disrupted the movement of trucks in certain parts of the country.
However, the maize meal-laden truck finally descended on Delmore Park where the food was portioned out to the different ECD representatives who lined up to collect their share of the donated food on July 27.

Geppetto-Kids is among the centres that benefited from FNB’s maize meal donation.

The donation to support the development of the little ones is made up of contributions from the FirstRand SPIRE fund, according to the forum.
The forum’s chairperson, Veronica Nunn, described the donation as a much-needed boost to the local ECDs, which are already struggling to feed their children as a result of the pandemic.

“On behalf of the forum and the beneficiaries, I would like to thank FNB for taking care of our children. We are also grateful to Mega Grid and Bidvest for ensuring that the maize meal safely reaches its intended beneficiaries.”
