Police discover stolen motor vehicles at a Mapleton chop shop

Four men will appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on September 10.

The Dawn Park police pounced on a chop shop in Mapleton on the morning of September 9, where several vehicles were found stripped beyond recognition.

Four men were arrested after they were found inside the chop shop.

According to Capt Dan Mahlangu of Dawn Park SAPS, the discovery comes after a tracking device led the police and the tracking team to a plot in Mapleton where the stolen vehicle, a VW Tiguan, was kept after it was reported hijacked in Heidelberg.

“When the police arrived at the plot, they found the stolen vehicle and four other vehicles. Two of the vehicles were reported hijacked in Germiston and Midrand, respectively, while others couldn’t be traced because they had already been stripped.”

Mahlangu said police also recovered two jammers at the scene. All four suspects will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on September 10, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen vehicles.
