As they were unhappy with the referees judgement, Grey Circle FC players walked away.
Four football teams from local fibre installation companies battled it out in a football tournament on September 4 at the Boksburg City Stadium.
The teams were TT Connect FC, DFA FC, Clearline FC and Grey Circle FC.
During the semi-finals just after 11:00, TT Connect beat DFA FC 4-1, and Grey Circle FC beat Clearline FC 6-2.
The final ended before the whistle could be blown after Grey Circle FC, leading at the time, disputed the referee’s decision to award a penalty to TT Connect FC.
As they were unhappy with the referee’s judgement, Grey Circle FC players walked away. This resulted in their opponent winning the match by default.
Organiser of the football tournament, Obed Morai of TT Connect, said the tournament was aimed at creating a relationship between the four companies.
“To avoid something like this happening in the final again, we are planning to have a professional referee in future,” Morai said.
