Celebrations begin for Witfield Park’s 50th birthday

Witfield Park Retirement Village held a fun walk on September 8 in celebration of its 50th anniversary.
The walk is part of the village’s fun-filled programme leading to its birthday on October 27.
The first group of residents and staff (mostly established walkers that are part of the Witfield Park’s Padlangs walking group) braved cold weather at 08:00 to do a 5km walk in the vicinity of the village.
A second group did a 1km walk inside the village at 09:00. Each group consisted of about 20 people.
Participants also received a goodie bag with water and chips
Marinda Lombaard, manager of Witfield Park, described the event as a success.
“We just wanted to do something nice for the residents and I believe they enjoyed it. Even people who use walkers participated. Thank to the Padlangs walking group for assisting with the day’s arrangements.
“To celebrate our milestone birthday, we are planning a few events such as a potjiekos competition leading to our birthday,” said the manager.
