Atlasville man undressed and tied up during house robbery

The victim was allegedly assaulted several times during the robbery.

A smoke break turned into a nightmare for an Atlasville man who was ambushed by four men on September 13.

It is alleged the 39-year-old, who lives alone, went inside his lapa to smoke after he had been working in his study around 23:30.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, as he was about to enter the house, he was cornered by the armed men, who tied him up and undressed him.

“One of the suspects guarded the victim while three of the other suspects proceeded inside the house. The suspects then took the victim into the house where they asked him to show them how to deactivate the alarm.”

Ramaube said he was then taken to another room where the suspects continued to loot the house.

“It is alleged one of the suspects called the victim by name when he said they won’t kill him. The suspects also wanted to steal the victim’s car but the vehicle’s battery was low. When fleeing the scene, the suspects dropped a television set before abandoning their balaclavas in a veld opposite the house. CMS made the discovery of the balaclavas,” said Ramaube.

Ramaube said the victim was allegedly assaulted several times during the robbery.

Items stolen during the house robbery include an iPhone 12 Pro, four television sets, an amplifier and clothing items. The victim managed to untie himself in the early hours of the morning.
