Following President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement on September 12 about governments intentions of introducing a vaccine passport, we asked locals how they felt about this.
Your view on government possibly introducing vaccine passports?
Chris Boshoff: “I'll have no choice but to vaccinate, though I think its not fair.”
Lucian la Marque: “I am not going to vaccinate even if they introduce the passport. I believe that as citizens, we have a choice, so they'll have to respect our choices.”
Simoné van Niekerk: “I saw it coming because there are many people who are still hesitant to vaccinate. I feel we are forced to do something we don't want to do.”
Felphanet Shana: “By telling us they want to introduce the passports, I feel we are forced to do something we don't want. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, government strategies are confusing us.”
Lucille la Marque: “Government is infringing on our human rights by saying they are looking into introducing vaccination passports. They are basically forcing us to vaccinate and we don't want to vaccinate.”
