Residents are at their wits’ end about a water leak on Cason Road that has been a problem for about six months.
Donald Erasmus and Santie Wessels, concerned residents, said they have been reporting the problem to no avail.
“Thousands of litres of drinking water have now gone to waste. We don’t know exactly what caused the leak. This is why we want the metro to investigate. We don’t want to fight, we just want it fixed,” said Erasmus.

Erasmus stressed the leak, located in front of the metro-owned flats Rome Place and Downtown, caused the road surface to disintegrate.
“The road was in a good condition before the leak started, now the tar is damaged and there is a sinkhole forming, it seems,” Erasmus added.
Ward 32 Clr Marius de Vos told the Advertiser he escalated the matter to the relevant department.
“I was told the Department of Real Estate will come out to repair the leak. Water leaks in Boksburg are still an issue; however, the metro responded swiftly to the leaks I reported,” said de Vos.
The Advertiser is still awaiting comment from the metro.
