A case of murder has been opened at Boksburg North SAPS following the death of Gauteng Traffic Police officer Khweli Dali (55), who was murdered at his Witfield home on October 9.
Dali, who worked with the Wadeville Transport office in the Eastern corridor, died as a result of head injuries sustained during the attack.
It is reported that his service pistol and private vehicle were taken by his attackers but was later found abandoned in Daveyton. According to the police, the motive behind his killing is not yet known.
The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, has called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing of Dali.
“I have engaged with the Gauteng police management to mobilise all resources to ensure those who are responsible for the senseless killing are apprehended to face the full might of the law,” said Mazibuko.
The MEC has encouraged communities to assist the police with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects.
“On behalf of Gauteng Provincial Government, I wish to convey our deepest condolences to the Dali family, friends and colleagues during these challenging times,” added Mazibuko.
The Gauteng Department of Community Safety said through Ikhaya Lethemba Victim Empowerment Centre that it will provide psycho-social support to the family.
