Drugs, illegal cigarette seized in roving anti-crime operation

The joint operation consisted of members of the SAPS, EMPD and several local security companies.

Local law enforcement agents embarked on a mission to crack down on criminals in known crime hot spots within the Boksburg SAPS policing precinct on November 30.

The anti-crime operations have seen officers disrupting illicit trading when they swooped on the Dunswart taxi rank, where they found counterfeit cigarettes and dagga hidden in a dustbin.

No suspect was arrested in connection with the recovered illegal substances; however, police believe that the person behind the illegal trade was in the area looking on as officers were removing illegal items.

Officers also mounted stop and search operations and pounced on motorists suspected of violating road traffic rules.

The joint operation consisted of members of the SAPS, EMPD, Graphite Security, Makopano Risk Solutions, AAA Security, AfriForum and Boksburg CPF.
