EMPD tip of the week

Sometimes, the driver could posess a valid PRDP but not in accordance with conditions.

If an operator/driver is using a motor vehicle for reward, he/she must possess a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

The wording for a fine of driving without a PrDP is: ‘Drove prescribed motor vehicle without a professional driving permit.’ During EMPD operations, officers would stop and issue a written notice to offenders without a PrDP.

For category G (goods/breakdown) the fine is R200, for category P (passengers) it is R500 and for category D (dangerous goods) it is R500.
However, if the operator does have a valid PrDP but it is not in the vehicle, for categories G, P and D the fine is R100 each.

Sometimes, the driver/operator could possess a valid PrDP but not in accordance with conditions.
In that case, for category G, it is a R500 fine, category P a R250 fine and category D a R500 fine.
