Robbers strike again at Pep Store in Atlas Mall

No shots or injuries were reported.

A gang of robbers once again made off with dozens of brand-new cellphones and thousands of rands during a robbery at Pep Store in Atlas Mall on the morning of January 15.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, a 62-year-old employee told police she was standing next to the till when she noticed two suspicious-looking men.

“The victim alleged that when she moved away, one of the men shouted at her and demanded that she goes into the office. She said she complied and later on realised one of the men was part of a previous robbery that took place at the store,” said Ramaube.

The victim was then allegedly forced to hand over the store’s most expensive cellphones to the suspects, which she did.

The suspects got away with cellphones, DStv decoders and a substantial amount of cash. Boksburg North police are investigating a case of business robbery.

“Preliminary investigations revealed the vehicles used in the robbery were later found in Johannesburg with the stolen goods; however, the suspects were nowhere to be found,” Ramaube added.

The store was also targeted by robbers on August 29. This is a developing story.
