Cable thief sentenced to 15 years

He was found guilty of possessing a stolen cable and tampering with municipal infrastructure.

Mahlomola Mashego, who was found in possession of stolen electric cable on May 28, 2019, by the Dawn Park SAPS Tracing Unit, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on January 28 in the Vosloorus Regional Court.

According to the Dawn Park SAPS communications officer Const Nkemeleng Mabula, Mashego was found with an electric cable while digging around another electric cable in Villa Liza when they affected the arrest.

Dawn Park SAPS station commander Johannes Makhubo congratulated the tracing unit for arresting Mashego.

Det Cont Mdunyelwa, whose diligent investigation led to the conviction of the cable thief Mahlomola Mashego.
