Criminals it seems are targeting motorists at the intersection of Commissioner and Van Dyk streets.
Motorists said the intersection is not safe because criminals are smashing their car windows and snatching their valuables.
Anne de Klerk says criminals attempted to snatch her valuables but they didn’t succeed. They only damaged her car’s window.
“I’m stunned by what happened to me. The thieves moved in quickly and I was not expecting them. Luckily I managed to drive quickly to escape them.
“They could have taken my things easily but I thank God they didn’t take anything in my car. I have opened a case at Boksburg SAPS.
“What is happening at the intersection is appalling and it must be stopped. I hope the police will act and arrest the criminals who are targeting us,” said de Klerk.
The Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Ntsako Ledwaba said several people have opened cases of criminal activity at the intersection and they are ongoing investigations.
She said they combated the crime at the intersection before when they deployed detectives to monitor the situation.
“We managed to arrest the criminals who were targeting motorists.
“Lately, it seems like criminals are targeting motorists in that area again, so we have deployed the Sector Four CPF patrollers to act as our eyes and ears,” said Ledwaba.
