A Reiger Park detective, Sgt Maxwell Siweya, was killed in Joe Slovo hostel in Boksburg on March 26.
According to the Reiger Park police spokesperson, Const Zanele Motaung, the detective died on the scene after he was allegedly shot at about 15:00 by two suspects he was tracking as part of an investigation.
“He was tracking the suspects for a shoot-out they were involved in and there are now also investigations into the killing of our colleague. The suspects took his service pistol, cellphone and his cousin’s belongings before fleeing the scene.
“His cousin was with him at the time of the attack. It is believed the suspects were aware of the detective in the area and attacked him and his cousin,” said Motaung.
