Crime in Brief

Here are some of the serious crimes recently reported to the Boksburg police:

Murders
• Police are investigating a murder case after a man, identified as Dido Mangwambe, was recently stabbed to death in Angelo informal settlement.
• In another murder case, a 53-year-old man, identified as Bongani Magwaza, died at Tambo Memorial Hospital after being shot in the left thigh near the Boksburg East    Railway Station on April 9.

Burglaries
• A resident of Constantia Road, Freeway Park, woke up at about 03:20 on April 11 to find intruders helping themselves to the house contents. He noticed two people,      described as African males, taking the TV set and exiting the house through one of the windows.
• Thieves recently forced their way into a business located on Commissioner Street and stole goods, including batteries and tools.
• In Farrar Park, thieves recently entered a residential property on Fitzpatrick Road, forced open the garage door and stole bicycles and tools.
• A resident of Saron Road in Freeway Park arrived home on April 8 to find that thieves had forced their way into his home and stole valuable goods, including a TV,          clothes, laptops and other items.

Car thefts
• A complainant told police thieves recently stole his white Toyota bakkie while it was parked in the Boksburg Civic Centre’s underground parking area.
• A Word and Life church congregant was recently left stranded after thieves stole his car, a Mazda Rustler bakkie, from the parking lot while he was in the church.
• A Vosloorus man’s car, a grey Ford Laser, was stolen from the Boksburg Civic Centre parking lot on April 12. While he was in a meeting, he received an alert from a          vehicle tracking company informing him that someone could be tampering with the car battery. When he went out to check, the car was gone.
• A Nissan NP200 was stolen while it was parked in the roadside parking of Leeuwpoort Street in the Boksburg CBD on April 12. The driver had parked the vehicle at 16:00 and walked into one of the offices to deliver a parcel, but when he returned to the spot about 15 minutes later, the bakkie was gone.
• Polilce are investigating an attempted car theft case after a man recently had the ignition of his Ford Ranger bakkie stripped, apparently by car thieves, as it was parked outside a block of flats on Station Road in Boksburg East.

Rape
A man was arrested and charged with rape for allegedly repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl who resides in one of the blocks of flats in the Boksburg CBD. The girl’s mother told police her daughter said she was raped by the man, who stays in the same area, on April 9, in March and in December.
