Police are appealing for information regarding a shooting outside Ravenswood Shopping Centre where a light motor vehicle, riddled with bullet holes, was found smashed through a boundary wall on April 22.
The passenger died and the driver was left injured.
According to Boksburg North SAPS station commander Col Mack Mngomezulu, the incident happened at around 19:30.
“A grey Mercedes-Benz arrived and an armed man randomly opened fire on a stationary Audi. It is not confirmed and police are still investigating, however, it seems that Audi’s engine was still on or the driver tried to get away and crashed into a wall.
“One person in the Mercedes was driving and another person was shooting. The motive of the shooting is still unknown, but it is believed to be taxi violence-related as these incidents happen in the same style. More information can’t be divulged at this stage,” he said.
The station commander added police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.
ER24 communications officer Russel Meiring said ER24 arrived at 20:20 and found local authorities already in attendance.
“Medics assessed the men and found that one man inside the vehicle had already succumbed to his numerous gunshot wounds. The other man was found with two gunshot wounds to his right arm. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
Anyone with information may contact the police on 08600 10111.
