Local couple celebrates 50th anniversary
It will also be Sarie's 70th birthday on their wedding anniversary.
Spending quality time together and putting family first kept Aubrey (72) and Sarie (70) de Jager, who will be celebrating their golden (50th) anniversary on July 1, together all these years.
The couple tied the knot in 1972 in Homestead and lived in Boksburg until they decided to retire in Heidelberg four years ago.
Aubrey and Sarie grew up in Durban and knew each other since childhood – Sarie was five and Aubrey seven. Their mothers were friends and that is how they met.
They got married in Boksburg and raised three children and started a successful business.

The lovebirds have been blessed with three children (Monique le Roux, Charl and Eugené) and three grandchildren (Jean, Duncan and Michael).
Sarie not only turns 70 on July 1, but it is also their wedding anniversary.
They plan to celebrate this special occasion with their children and grandchildren by spending the weekend in Dinokeng.
“We, as the children and grandchildren, look up to our parents and the wonderful example they set for us,” explained Monique.
