New Reiger Park police chief brings 23 years of experience to the station
His priorities are reducing substance abuse, tackling gangsterism and removing illegal firearms from the streets.
After more than 23 years in the police service, Colonel Mbongiseni Zwane has taken the helm as station commander at Reiger Park Police Station, with a commitment to making the community safer.
Zwane officially took up his position as station commander on October 16, bringing with him experience spanning frontline policing, crime prevention, detective work and station leadership.
“I have more than two decades of experience, which I want to share with those under my command in an effort to create a safer environment for the community,” he said.

His career has taken him through several roles.
“I started as a frontline police officer, then went to crime prevention, detective work, the Trio Task Team, then vehicle crime in Benoni.
“I was a trainer police officer as well as detective commander, then as acting station commander in Devon and thereafter in Dunnottar,” said Zwane.
Now, he hopes to use that experience to address the challenges facing Reiger Park and its surrounding communities.
“I have goals for this community, to bring peace, stability and safety, making residents feel safe,” he said.
“My priorities include reducing substance abuse, tackling gangsterism and removing illegal firearms from the streets.”
Zwane also emphasised the importance of working alongside residents and organisations already involved in supporting the community.
The Reiger Park Police Station serves Reiger Park, including Galeview and Jerusalem, as well as Ramaphosa, Delmore, Delmore Gardens, Delmore Park and the Ramaphosa, Delmore and Ulana informal settlements.
