Caxton staff members get blood flowing for good cause

SANBS aims to collect 3000 units of blood per day to ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply in the health care system.

The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) pointed out on its website that blood stocks are critically low and recently urged community members to donate blood.

Caxton Local Media staff heeded the call and went the donor centre at the East Rand Mall to donate blood to help save lives.

The SANBS employees screened all potential donors, checking blood pressure and iron deficiency.
To become a blood donor, you must:

• Be between the ages of 16 and 75
• Weigh 50kg or more
• Be in good health
• Lead a healthy lifestyle
• Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient

The blood donor centre at the East Rand Mall is open from 10:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, and Saturday from 09:00 to 15:00.
