July car boot sale a roaring success
Community members came in their numbers to support the car boot sale.
The Advertiser car boot sale made history on July 2 when, for the first time, a vendor sold out all of their items.
Vendors Louise Kruger and Nicolette Olivier, from Sunward Park, explained they did not expect all their previously loved goods, which included items like linen, clothing, shoes and kitchen appliances, to be swept up by market supporters.
They were out of stock by 09:45.
What makes this achievement even more noteworthy is that it was their first time at the Advertiser’s car boot sale.
“We loved our experience here and were pleasantly surprised with the day’s outcome. We will definitely be back for another boot sale,” they said.
According to the pair, their key to success was selling their items at affordable prices.
The boot sale, held in conjunction with the Bokkie Park Food and Craft Market, was an overall success again, as keen families and bargain hunters flooded through the gates of the park from opening time at 09:00.
They could browse second-hand goods at the car boot sale and the craft market again offered all sorts of handmade crafts, food and refreshments, and live music, of course.
The monthly car boot sale, which has been going for the past three and a half years, is an Advertiser initiative in association with the craft market.
The market and car boot sale is held on the first Saturday of every month at the Bokkie Park, in Southvale Road, Parkdene, from 09:00 to 14:30.
The next event is on August 6.
