Crime in Brief

Here are some of the serious crimes recently reported to the Boksburg SAPS.

Hijacking
A truck driver had his employer’s cargo-laden truck hijacked in the Boksburg East industrial area at about 09:00 on June 29.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Ntsako Ledwaba, the truck was parked outside a business on David Road when a gunman confronted the driver and forced him to drive it to Dunswart, next to the railway line, where they were joined by more assailants.
The driver was robbed of his cellphone and held up for about two hours while the cargo was driven away by one of the hijackers.

Theft
A delivery truck driver had the tyres of his employer’s truck stolen as he was waiting at the gate of a company on Haggie Road, in Dunswart, on July 1.

The driver told the police that he parked the truck next to the gate at about 04:30 and waited for the company to open. About 10 minutes later, he noticed that two of the tyres had been stolen off the trailer of the truck.

Burglary
In Freeway Park, thieves forced their way into a residential property on Leeuenhof Road and helped themselves to valuable goods.

The homeowner told the Boksburg police that he left home at about 11:00 on June 2 and went on vacation, but returned on June 27 to find that his house had been burgled. The criminals forced opened one of the doors to enter the house and stole two TVs, two laptops and a gate motor.
