Man’s body found floating in Boksburg Lake

The man's body was handed over to the Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.

Construction workers made a gruesome discovery this morning as they spotted what appeared to be a human body floating in the Boksburg Lake.

The floating body was spotted in the middle of the water body while slowly making its way towards the newly constructed weir and pedestrian bridge.
Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Sgt Ntsako Ledwaba said they received a report of a body floating in the lake and officers rushed to the scene to investigate.
SAPS divers from the Ekurhuleni Water Wing also arrived and pulled the body to shore.

The man, who appears to be a young black male in his 30s, was certified dead by emergency medical services on the scene.
“The body has not been identified and the cause of death is unknown at this time.

“An inquest docket has been registered to try and identify the man and determine the circumstances surrounding his death. A post-mortem examination will be conducted,” explained Ledwaba.

This is not the first time a body has been found floating in the lake.
Back in 2019, another body of a man was found floating in the lake. Two other bodies were in separate incidents found in the water in 2016.
If you have any information on the case, you’re asked to contact the Boksburg police on 011 841 6859.
