Learners from Mindpro Academy supported friends living with rare diseases on World Rare Disease Day, February 28.
It was a blue Tuesday for learners from Mindpro Academy, in Atlasville, as they all banded together in support of friends living with rare diseases, on World Rare Disease Day, February 28.
Four learners from the school have been diagnosed with one of 7 000 categorised diseases.
Living with a rare disease may be a heavy burden to bear, but for Somai Venter (11) from Farrarmere, her diagnosis of Ectodermal Dysplasia has not put a dampener on this tween’s zest for life. Somai and her mom, Madelein, celebrated World Rare Disease day, on February 28, by raising awareness for the estimated 3 million people, worldwide living with 7 000 categorised rare diseases.
It is estimated that more than three million people worldwide may be living with one of 7 000 categorised rare diseases. February 28 marked the celebration of World Rare Disease Day and learners from Mindpro Academy happily wore their unique ‘stripes’ to raise awareness for their conditions. Learners also donated ‘brave boxes’ to the cause which will be distributed to children currently undergoing treatment in hospital.
