A TikToker Tinyiko Matjokane583 commented, “He’s cute. You can just tell he doesn’t take bribes. I’m sure you’ll find him. Good luck, girlfriend.”

Meanwhile, TikToker Marianna commented, “Man he is fine. He can arrest me any day.”

Furthermore, TikToker Taryn Wagner added her thoughts in the comment section, “He is very nice to look at.”

The woman recorded the video on July 29 while the officer attended a colleague’s funeral in Vosloorus.

Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Amanda van Wyk said Van der Westhuizen highlighted it was evident in the video that he wears his SAPS uniform with pride.

“Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are bound to adhere to the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa to ensure a safe and secure environment for all. In addition, ethical policing demands that a member acts with integrity, respect diversity, abide by the law, strive for service excellence and public approval during the execution of his or her duties,” she highlighted.

Van der Westhuizen pursued his childhood dream of becoming a police officer after he completed matric in 2010. He applied to join the service on numerous occasions and was finally enlisted in 2018.

He completed the Basic Police Development Learning Programme at the SAPS Academy in Tshwane.

With just over five years of service, Van der Westhuizen boasts of two Certificates of Commendation he received from the National Commissioner in 2019 and 2021, respectively, for exemplary service delivery.

“It is an honour to wear a police uniform because it is my calling. It gives me great pleasure to serve and protect my community,” said Van der Westhuizen.

Van der Westhuizen is in the Tshwane district, but the police do not want to disclose information about where he is stationed.
