Aelen Stars ballers slam dunk to third place in league

“These little champs are determined and are the future of basketball."

The Aelen Stars Academy coach, Michael Murerwa, hailed his U11 and U18 teams that finished third in their divisions in the Eagles Basketball League, which concluded earlier this month.

Murerwa said his players are the future of basketball.

“These little champs are determined to be stars. We look forward to participating in more leagues,” he said about the U11 team.

The coach was equally impressed with his U18s, who punched above their weight in a league where they played against much older opponents.

“We actually used our U16s, who won previously and now play in the U18 age group,” said Murerwa.

The U11 key player, Kegan Veldman, was selected in the division’s all-star team while Nkosi Mciwa and Towchuku Norrom are in the U18 all-star squad.

“We want more children to join and be a part of this exciting journey.”
