Village hosts first fête after Covid-pandemic

Organisers described the fundraiser as a success, and they thanked all those who came to support the initiative.

Ridgeview Retirement Village in Bartlett held its first fête post Covid-19 on November 4 to raise funds for the village.

While the organisers were not yet sure how much was raised at the time of going to press, the Ridgeview Retirement Village manager Liza Oosthuizen, said: “We will use the money for some solar lights and new books for our library, among other things.”

The initiative saw several bargain hunters descending on the venue to buy from the 23 stalls which were offering a wide variety of goods.
The stall holders paid R200 each for a stall. The village also sold food, cakes and pancakes.

The village resident Gail van den Bosch sold second-hand books to raise money for her village.

Oosthuizen described the fundraiser as a success, and she thanked all those who came to support the initiative.
Oosthuizen pointed out that they are planning to hold a potjiekos competition soon.

Staff members Nidzy Murambiwa and Hlali Ncobo were also hands-on in raising funds for the village.
Residents of the village Francis Simson, Sarah Motsweni and Dorothy Gouws, manned the village’s craft stall.
Annabel Grobler, Yulandie Grobler and Libby Main of Farrarmere were among the stall holders at the fundraiser.
Staff members Nidzy Murambiwa Hlali Ncobo were also hands-on in raising funds for the village.
