Hope SA brings mobile clinic to Plantation
The mobile clinic will assist community members on weekdays.
Dedicated to providing vital medical services to underprivileged areas, the Hope SA Foundation recently launched its mobile healthcare unit (MHU) in Boksburg.
The organisation was on Battery Street in Plantation on March 6 with the unit, where they also fed over 400 people as part of its sustainable food programme.
The foundation CEO, Namritha Sivsanker, said the MHU offers comprehensive wellness screenings, eye testing, female hygiene support, health education, disaster medical support and wound care services.
The organisation recognised the urgent need for accessible primary healthcare after the gas tanker explosion in December 2022 and further extended support for survivors of GBV. It also provides critical disaster relief assistance.
“This initiative aligns with the foundation’s commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development,” explained Sivsanker.
In addition to regular health assessments and wound care services, the MHU plans quarterly health days, collaborating with doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, and opticians to offer a holistic approach to healthcare.

The foundation is grateful for Danone South Africa’s support and sponsorship of the MHU vehicle.
“Through collaboration, sponsorship, and partnerships, the foundation aims to expand its reach and impact in impoverished communities,” the CEO highlighted.
Sivsanker said the unit can be found at Urban Ruins’ premises on Maple Avenue from 09:00 to 14:00 on weekdays.
The unit will, however, be parked on Battery Street on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 16:00 when they do the sustainable food programme. Anyone who needs the services will be assisted.
“We will move the MHU to other impoverished places in Boksburg and surrounding areas later.”
One of the beneficiaries, Belinda Terblanche, thanked the organisation for what they do for the community.
“I’m here for a general check-up. The mobile clinic will make a big difference in people’s lives because not everybody has the means to go to a clinic.”
