Students impress at championships
The club was represented by four karatekas and they won seven medals between them.
The Tenshinkan Karate Club Benoni collected seven medals at the Mpumalanga Championships at the Honbu Dojo in Rynfield, on April 20.
Dante Lucas won a pair of golds in kumite and kata while Carmen Criggs grabbed a gold in kata and silver in kumite.
Jeandre Liebenberg won a bronze in kata and kumite and Roland van der Walt helped himself to a silver in kata.
Chief instructor shihan Catherine Venter said she is happy with her students’ performance and achievements.
She added they are preparing for the Shihan Championship, the second biggest competition on their calendar, on May 18 at Brakpan Indoor Centre.
“I am positive that my students will do well again,” she said.
