Congolese Community aims to alleviate poverty

The Congolese Community of Boksburg, an NPO, was officially registered on June 4.
This is after being formed in November 2022.

The organisation, comprising both Congolese nationals and South African citizens, aims to alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment.

Situated in Eveleigh, this community-driven initiative is already making significant strides in transforming lives.

According to the founder, Annaclet Manganga, the decision to start the NPO was driven by a desire to extend a helping hand to those in need.

“It is so disheartening to see people suffering and helping people is what we are all about,” the founder stated, emphasising the organisation’s commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve.

“The Congolese Community of Boksburg has adopted a multifaceted approach to addressing the challenges faced by its community members.

“Through various initiatives and programmes, the organisation aims to provide support in areas such as job creation, skills development, and legal assistance for Congolese obtaining South African nationality,” said Manganga.

“One of the key focuses of the NPO is to create employment opportunities, especially for Congolese individuals, many of whom face significant barriers to entering the job market due to language barriers, lack of experience, or discrimination.

“By partnering with local businesses and organisations, we hope to facilitate job placements and internships, empowering individuals to become self-sufficient.”

The organisation is actively seeking support from and collaboration with individuals, businesses and organisations that share their vision of a more equitable and inclusive society.

“Whether through financial contributions, volunteering or partnerships, every act of kindness and support can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.

“By working together, we can create a future where poverty, unemployment, and discrimination are no longer barriers to success, and where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential,” said Manganga.

In addition to financial support, they are in dire need of donations to help meet the basic needs of community members.

“Specifically, they are seeking donations of food, blankets, toys, scarves, hats and warm clothing.”
