Gauteng water police recover body in Dawn Park

Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services, who were deployed to the Rietspruit River in Mapleton, Dawn Park, recovered the body of an unknown male on July 29.

According to Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the body was discovered in the marsh land on a plot in muddy conditions.

“It took the divers a few hours of getting stuck and physically fighting their way through the mud on foot to recover the body. An inquest docket has been opened.”

The police are urging anyone who witnessed events leading up to the discovery or has further information to contact the relevant SAPS station or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
