Ekon Kai karateka move up the ranks
A panel of esteemed instructors led the event.
Ekon Kai Karate Club in Ramaphosa held a successful grading event at Oos-Rand Secondary School, Reiger Park, where 20 karateka tested their skills to advance in rank, on October 19.
A panel of esteemed instructors, including shihan Moeti Holomo and sensei Thomas Moloi, fourth dan and the chief instructor of Ekon Kai Karate in South Africa, led the event.
According to Holomo, a key highlight of the day was Tokelo Yika from QwaQwa, Free State, who earned his promotion to first dan black belt (shodan), a significant achievement in his martial arts journey.

“Yika’s promotion reflected his commitment to mastering the principles and techniques of Ekon Kai Karate.”
Holomo shared his pride in the event’s outcome.
“This grading is important to both our organisation and our students. It is where we test our karatekas’ ability to apply the techniques and methodologies of Ekon Kai Karate.
“The performance was outstanding, and many karateka earned promotions to higher belts, demonstrating their hard work and progress.
“The grading was more than just a test of skill; it was a celebration of the dedication and growth of Ekon Kai Karate’s students,” said Holomo.
