Community unites to support Kuselo’s Amanda

The community's backing is crucial in helping Amanda continue her invaluable work, positively impacting the lives of vulnerable children.

The Humanity Foundation, in collaboration with Urban Ruins Projects NPO, is spearheading a fundraising campaign for Amanda Coetzee, founder of Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services.

The initiative aims to raise funds for a home oxygen concentrator and the ongoing services required to ensure Coetzee receives the necessary care, enabling her to continue her vital work in the community.

Coetzee has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a condition that restricts airflow and causes breathing difficulties.

Pierre Marneweck, founder of The Humanity Foundation, highlighted the importance of this fundraising effort.

“We want to raise R15 000 for her as her illness requires regular, almost constant use of oxygen.

“She has been dedicated to rescuing abandoned babies for over 20 years, making her mission all the more urgent.”

“The community has already shown strong support, with a mobile oxygen cylinder pledged to assist Amanda while she is on the go

“We are raising funds for the oxygen concentrator and have identified a suitable machine that we hope to secure shortly, depending on funds.

“We are putting out a plea to the community of Benoni/Boksburg and surrounds to help us raise funds.”

Clayton Viljoen, CEO of Urban Ruins, praised Amanda’s exceptional dedication to child welfare.

“Whenever I notice something amiss with one of my children, I reach out to her, and she investigates.

“She goes above and beyond to ensure children are safe, and the work she does is crucial for their protection.”

Amanda expressed her heartfelt thanks to both the organisations and the community for their support.

“The support is overwhelming and I am grateful.”

She added that she can no longer work as she did before; she struggles to breathe and cannot manage the organisation as she used to.

Diagnosed with COPD five years ago, Amanda’s condition has progressed to an advanced stage, requiring frequent hospital visits over the past two months.

“I am on medication, which provides some relief,” she said.

In her absence, her sister and daughter-in-law have stepped in to manage Kuselo.
