Kuselo visits school in celebration of Child Protection Week

This year’s National Child Protection Week was observed under the theme ‘Protecting South African Children, 30 years on’.

In light of National Child Protection Week (May 29 till June 5), Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services recently spent time at Mind Pro Academy in Atlasville to speak about how learners can protect themselves against harm.

Amanda Coetzee, founder of the organisation, spoke to the children about how bad behaviour and disrespect can cause reactions from others.

“I wanted to make them aware of how they talk to people. They can also change their attitude so that the circumstances at home improve.

“The child can, for example, offer to help their mom in the kitchen or cut the grass. Every action has a reaction. Your parents are going to react if you are acting up,” said Coetzee.
Furthermore, learners were given the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice.

Coetzee thanked the school for allowing her to speak to the learners.

School principal Madelein Venter said the learners benefited from the talk.

Kuselo is an NPO that provides a stable home for babies and young children. If you can assist the organisation in any way, contact Coetzee on 072 512 7227.
