Retina SA has announced that the 36th Dis-Chem Ride for Sight will take place on February 16 at Boksburg City Stadium.
Pre-entries opened on November 11, and the benefits include a Dis-Chem premium goodie bag, R50 Cycle Lab shopping voucher and free post-race bike wash and lube at Cycle Lab.
The event includes the 116km Ensure Super Classic main race, the 62km DS24 fun ride, and a category for para-cyclists for both distances.
The race, won by Bradley Scott and Lisa Bone this year, is an official seeding event for next year’s Virgin Active Ride Joburg 947 and the 2026 Cape Town Cycle Tour.

It was first done in Benoni in 1989 as a fun ride and has since grown into one of South Africa’s premier road cycling events.
Volunteers organise the event under the leadership of Retina SA. All proceeds from the event go to projects that find treatment for retinal blindness.
It has so far contributed over R11m to retinal research to find the genetic causes of retinal blindness affecting thousands of South Africans.
