He finished the race sixth in 02:33:25.

The Boksburg Athletic Club’s (BAC) Paul Kasu clocked a top 10 finish in the Jacaranda City Marathon men’s 42.2km race in Pretoria on November 9.

Kasu finished the race in 02:33:25 for sixth place. The race was won by Philani Buthelezi in 02:23:55 while Stephen Mokoka clocked 02:28:31 for second place. Kgotlelelo Lekalakala finished third in 02:29:28.

The BAC’s Felix Banda achieved a sub-03:00 in the marathon. He clocked 02:57:33 to finish 29th overall and was second behind Ntshengedzeni Masupa in the men’s 50-59 category.

Isabel Dicks was the club’s first lady to finish the marathon. She crossed the line in 03:54:32.

The Laerskool Baanbrekker Grade Seven learner Kai Hattingh continued her fledgling road running career with another win over the 5km.

Hattingh is a promising middle-distance athlete but has set her sights on the longer road distances, hoping to follow in the footsteps of her idol, Gerda Steyn.

Before her win in Pretoria, she placed first at the Tommy Malone Race 5km event and finished the Benoni Northerns Marathon 5km race fifth in 21:15.
