NPO shifts to home-based care

This approach provides personalised care by using a home-based care model that adapts to address the unique needs of each individual and family.

Khayalabantwana Bebambisene, a Windmill Park NPO, has closed its doors as a drop-in centre and is now dedicated to providing home-based care services.

The shift follows a challenging year marked by operational adjustments.

Established in 2007, Khayalabantwana has been a vital resource for children, youth, and families affected by HIV/Aids and other vulnerabilities in and around Boksburg.

However, because of regulatory requirements, the organisation adapted its services to meet the evolving needs of its community.

According to project manager Sibongile Mkhwanazi, they faced logistical challenges, including insufficient space and parking, which did not meet the standards.

“We recognised the need to ensure our services remain relevant and effective. Khayalabantwana continues to play a vital role in the community, providing essential services and support.

“Despite past challenges, including the cessation of cooked meals and reduced operational days, we remain committed to our mission.”

Mkhwanazi said they are proud of their resilience and adaptability. “Our focus on home-based care will allow us to maintain our core services while ensuring sustainability and growth.

“We aim to continue being a beacon of hope and support for our community. We look forward to securing resources to enhance our home-based care services and expand our reach.”

As Khayalabantwana Bebambisene Organisation embarks on this new chapter, it invites community support and collaboration to ensure the success of its home-based care model.

With its renewed focus, the organisation is ready to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of those it serves. For more information, contact Mkhwanazi on 072 425 0629.
