Dawn Park resident missing after hijacking

The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may aid in the safe return of John Shabangu.

A search is underway for 49-year-old John Shabangu, a resident of Dawn Park, who went missing on February 27.

According to reports, Shabangu left his home around 15:00 to visit friends, but when his wife attempted to contact him later that evening, his phone was off.

The police informed the wife at around 23:00 that Shabangu’s car had been hijacked and recovered in Vosloorus.
However, Shabangu was nowhere to be found.

Preliminary investigations revealed that suspicious transactions had been also made on Shabangu’s bank account, fuelling concerns for his safety.

The Elsburg Police Station has opened a missing person case, and authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Shabangu’s disappearance to come forward.

If you have any information, contact Warrant Officer Molopyane of SAPS Elsburg at 066 045 6609.
