Karateka win hearts at tournament

They competed at the Cobras All Styles Team Events Only in Alberton.

The Lotus Karate Club students held their own in their first-ever team tournament during the Cobras All Styles Team Events Only at the Bracken Park Community Hall in Alberton on March 8.

The karateka, divided into team Lotus one and Lotus two, competed in unison kata and bunkai kata. According to their chief instructor, sensei Raveen Dayaram, they applied themselves well.

Dayaram said he was proud of his team.

“They showed bravery to go out there and do what they did. They won many hearts in the tournament. We are already winners for competing. It takes guts, determination and a lot of courage to compete. The medals are a bonus,” said Dayaram.

The sensei added that this team learned the importance of teamwork.
