Two 22-year-old male suspects were arrested on May 10 after police discovered hijacked motorbikes and parts in their possession in Pine Street, Mapleton Ext 10.
According to Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula of Dawn Park SAPS, the arrests followed a request for police backup from a tracking company at about 00:10.
“Our members responded swiftly to the call and, upon arrival, found the suspects with motorbike parts hidden in black containers, as well as three motorbikes,” said Mabula.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the recovered motorbikes had been reported hijacked, with case numbers linked to Mondeo and Jeep SAPS.
“The suspects could not provide a satisfactory explanation for being in possession of the motorbikes and parts, which led to their immediate arrest,” said Mabula.
Mabula said both suspects are detained at Dawn Park SAPS and is expected to appear in Vosloorus Court soon to face charges related to the possession of hijacked motorbikes.
