Pretorius case: Bail application postponed to June 10

The matter will resume on June 10.

A small group of people protested outside the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on June 3, calling for justice as two men charged in connection with the death of Jansen Park’s Brandon Pretorius (27) made another court appearance.

Ruan Beetge (30) and Gordan Westraad (45) face murder charges.
Their bail application was postponed to June 10 because Beetge’s legal representative being unavailable.

Family members and supporters of the Pretorius family outside the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.

Pretorius, a young father from Jansen Park, allegedly sustained fatal injuries after being assaulted by the two accused following an altercation at Malbroer Pub and Grill on North Rand Road.
The men made their first court appearance on May 13.
Family members and supporters attended the court proceedings dressed in black T-shirts featuring photographs of Pretorius on the front and back. The shirts bore the messages ‘No bail’ and ‘#justiceforbrandonpretorius’.
“We are here to support his family. What happened to him is not right. We are here to fight for justice. We do not want the accused to be granted bail,” said supporter Lientjie Oosthuizen.
