You were a sport, Boksburg
Thank you for opening your hearts (and garages), Boksburg.
“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire, it has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.”
These timeless words by the late President Nelson Mandela continue to echo in our hearts, especially during Mandela Month (July), a time dedicated to service, unity and giving back.
In honour of this spirit, the Boksburg Advertiser launched the Be a Sport Project, calling on the community to donate new and used sporting equipment to benefit schools, clubs and NPOs in need.
The drive officially wrapped up on July 31, and what an incredible journey it’s been.
True to form, the Boksburg community rose to the occasion, proving once again that ubuntu is alive and well.
Residents opened their hearts (and their garages), donating all kinds of sporting goods, from hockey sticks and cricket bats to netball balls and golf clubs.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to Ward 22 Clr Madelaine Muller, who went above and beyond with a generous contribution made through SNT Sports.
This publication is deeply grateful to each and every person who supported the initiative.
Your generosity is more than just a donation. It’s a lifeline for aspiring athletes and grassroots sports teams who now have the tools to chase their dreams.
