Greyhound buses burn to ashes in Boksburg

Despite the challenging conditions, firefighters succeeded in saving two buses, which were driven to a safer area.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed three Greyhound coaches at the company’s Jet Park depot on Vosloo Street.

According to City of Ekurhuleni DEMS spokesperson Eric Maloka, the devastating fire broke out at the depot yesterday afternoon, August 17, reducing the three buses to ashes.
Firefighters and fire engines from the Leon Ferreira, Albertina and Primrose fire stations responded swiftly to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found three buses and one trailer ablaze. Working together with the ACSA fire rescue crew, they managed to contain the blaze.

Three Greyhound coaches and a trailer were destroyed at the company’s Jet Park depot on Vosloo Street.

No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The bus company has not yet responded to our request for comment.

Greyhound buses return to SA’s roads in 2022, following its demise the previous year.
