Women officers take a stand against GBV

Reiger Park Police Station women are taking a stand against crime and gender-based violence, educating motorists and empowering the community.

Reiger Park Police Station saw a strong community initiative on August 27 as SAPS women conducted a mini roadblock to raise awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) and vehicle-related crimes.

The operation was led by domestic violence co-ordinators and supported by the CPF, pastors from Agape Healing Ministries, crime prevention wardens, and various stakeholders.

According to the station’s spokesperson, Constable Johannes Msimanga, the initiative was organised to send a clear message: enough is enough.
“They wanted motorists and community members to understand the dangers of GBV and trio crimes like hijacking and vehicle theft, and to know how to protect themselves,” Msimanga said.

Reigerpark SAPS conducted mini a roadblock.

During the first phase, motorists received practical advice, including not leaving vehicles unattended, removing valuables, and avoiding parking in isolated areas.

Msimanga explained that the second phase of the initiative took place at Agape Healing Ministries, where station commander Lieutenant Colonel Chetty addressed the group.
“I want to thank every lady who participated today. Their commitment makes a real difference in the Reiger Park precinct. Keep growing this team and supporting our community,” said Chetty.
