Walk to support community emergency care

The Heroes Walk in Reiger Park will raise funds to buy life-saving supplies, ensuring faster emergency response while waiting for ambulances.

Community members are invited to take part in the Heroes Walk on September 13, in Reiger Park.

This community-driven project, led by long-serving volunteer community medic Kevin Koopman, aims to raise funds for essential medical equipment to strengthen emergency care in the area.

Kevin, who has dedicated years of his life to serving the area, has become a trusted first responder when emergencies strike.
Residents often face long delays waiting for either state or private ambulance services. During these critical moments, Kevin has stepped in to provide immediate assistance with the limited resources available to him.

For him, the initiative is designed to change that by funding the purchase of vital supplies and equipment, ensuring better preparedness for life-threatening situations.

“Tickets for the walk will be available on the day of the event. For those unable to attend, there is an option to sponsor a ticket so that someone else may participate. Every contribution, whether through walking or donating, will go directly toward improving the project’s capacity to respond to medical emergencies.”

He added that families, friends, and community members are encouraged to show their support by participating in the walk or contributing in any way possible.
“All proceeds will make a real difference. This project is about saving lives and ensuring that people don’t have to wait helplessly in their time of need. The more support we get, the more equipment we can buy, and the more lives we can touch.”
