Here are some of the upcoming events that you may not want to miss out on in the next days:

Public consultation on proposed fixed electricity tariffs
Following a council decision last August to provide a further two-month consultation period, the City of Ekurhuleni will be hosting public participation meetings on fixed electricity tariffs for the 2025/26 financial year from September 20 to 27.
Residents are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to give their input on the proposed fixed electricity tariffs so that the city can make a decision that balances the needs and concerns of people and the financial sustainability of the city, ensuring continued and reliable electricity supply to all residents.
A meeting will be held at the Boksburg City Hall at 11:00 on September 20 for residents in the Germiston, Boksburg, Alberton, Thokoza, and Benoni wards 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 52, 53, 54, 57, 58, 61, 92, 93, 94, 95, 101, 103, and 106.
Another meeting will be held at the same time at KwaThema Civic Hall for the residents in the Brakpan, Springs, Nigel, and KwaThema wards 5, 72, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 82, and 97.
Heritage Month celebration
In celebration of Heritage Month, locals will be treated to a fun-filled soccer tournament dubbed Reiger Park El Clásico Legends Reunion, to be held at W.J. Clements Stadium on September 20.
The event, which will kick off at 11:00, will see Reiger Park Juventus taking on Boksburg Pirates in the first semi-finals. In the second semi-final, Boksburg Guild will battle it out with Sun United.
These were the teams that competed at the top back then. A lot of derbies were played against each other. The final will then follow at 16:30. Thereafter, Ward 34 Clr Edith Klassen will hand over the medals and trophy.
Organisers said the event promises to be a fun-filled family outing that will also serve as a fundraiser for the upkeep of the crumbling public facility.
Entrance fees are R10 for adults and R5 for children. Cooler box R30, parking R20, and hookah pipes R20.
“As old teammates and opponents stretching back from the 90s, we have decided to do a reunion of old friends and teams, together with the then administrators, to rekindle the old memories,” said the event organisers in a statement.
“We decided on the name El Clásico because it represents diversity amongst our community. We want to celebrate this gesture as our Heritage, taking us back to how Ubuntu was back then and how we can revive Ubuntu amongst our young and old members in our community.
“Even though our area is troubled by substance abuse, poverty, and a high rate of youth unemployment, most of us still believe in change.”
Bowl and braai
The Boksburg Bowling Club is inviting locals to join the club for a fun day to celebrate Heritage Day at the Boksburg Bowling Club in Commissioner and Church streets on September 24.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their meat and braai while enjoying the other festivities of the day. Pap and sauces will be provided.
Entrance fee is R50 per person, and non-bowlers are welcome to join in the fun.
Format: Drawn trips 4-3-2-1. Three rounds of six ends. Raffle and 50/50.

Swing for a good cause
Locals are invited to support the annual Dunstan Mlambo and the Saints Golf Day to raise funds for the St Dominic’s Majorette Team.
The fundraising event will be held at ERPM Golf Course on September 23. Registrations start at 10:00, and the shotgun start is at 11:30.
Fees are R4 000 per four-ball and R1 000 per person. The fees cover a goodie bag, T-shirt, halfway house, and dinner.
